I can't say I am surprised. My own experiences with Eurolines have been similarly frustrating. I was unable for three days to book the return leg of my journey from Koln to London. The german website would no accept three different credit cards and the ticket could only be booked via that website. I tried the phone ticket reservations and they said I needed to go to the office (third party). I tried the german customer services number and they simply hung up on me. Eventually I got a friend in the UK to book it for me but by now the price of the ticket had doubled (eurostar would have been cheaper).

The trip itself was on a spanish bus with a spanish driver whose only english seemed to be 'not my problem'. He arrived in Brussels 10 minutes early but managed to leave 20 mins late so when we arrived at the port we missed the ferry (not helped by the frankly useless french immigration officers who had to be woken up to come on duty). Many of the people on board were furious that we'd now arrive two hours late in London and so miss appointments etc. but the driver simply infuriated everyone further. Not only did he make no attempt to apologise or appease, he was simply aggressive and rude.

Pretty much everyone on the bus said they planned to complain but acknowledged that eurolines monopoly on coach travel made them care little about customer opinion. Passengers swapped tips on how to get cheap eurostar tickets or cheap flights as an alternative to wasting time on these coaches (which arnt even cheap).

I for one will avoid eurolines whenever practical from now on, even if it means paying a little more elsewhere.

My 2c worth? The colour version has far greater impact, presence and life. It has an intimacy that is missing in the B & W, imho.

Cheers Graeme. I must admit it's my least used lens, my 24-105 gets the most use with the 70-200 only being brought out when I need the extra reach. I should really use it more but I've got a mental wall I need to jump over about it's lack of IS each time I think of using it.

[...] Before leaving on our Czech Republic tour I submitted an image to the third round of the Worlds Apart competition in Digital SLR Photography magazine after my previous course module at the BFP had suggested looking at competitions. The topic was Environment Portraits which caused me to recall a picture I had shot of my good friend Rob whilst he was kayaking down the Guil river in the French alps, the original post with all the photos can be seen by clicking here.
I like to visit cemeteries and look at the gravestones, especially old ones. Reading the inscriptions and trying to figure out the meaning of symbolisms adds to the trip.
